Type 1 Diabetes is an autoimmune disease that occurs when the immune system starts to attack the islet cells in the pancreas. The pancreas produces insulin, which acts as little keys for the body’s cells to open them up and let the glucose, or energy, in.

Since my pancreas doesn’t work like that, I have to take insulin and check my blood sugar. I was diagnosed in July 2007 when I was eleven years old. Right now, I’m transitioning to using the Animas Vibe with the Dexcom Continuous Glucose Monitor. I’ve tried using the OmniPod in the past.
